Coles creates 74 new jobs at Alderley supermarket
Coles has created 74 new jobs in Brisbane’s inner north with the opening of its new supermarket at Alderley, which will be unveiled to local shoppers for the first time on Saturday, 18 February.

An additional 36 team members will transfer from nearby Coles supermarkets, bringing the total number of team members to 110.
Coles Alderley will offer customers something new with a unique offer of flat bread made on-site, a gourmet delicatessen with an olive bar, and a scoop-and-weigh station for a wide variety of seeds, nuts, grains and dried fruits.
Coles State General Manager Paul Bradshaw said the new store was part of an investment of more than $34 million in Brisbane’s inner north in the past four years, including new and refurbished supermarkets at West End, Indooroopilly, Brookside, Petrie Terrace, Woolloongabba, Toowong, Newmarket and Chermside.
“We’re working to give customers on Brisbane’s northside an enhanced shopping experience by providing the latest in fresh food technology, and making grocery shopping more enjoyable and convenient,” he said.
“Over the past four years, we have created more than 320 local jobs in the region and we’re pleased to welcome 74 new recruits to the Alderley store,” he said.
Alderley Store Manager James Felsman, who has worked with Coles for almost 25 years, said he is looking forward to officially welcoming shoppers to the store and sharing the new features.
“The store was previously a BILO with a limited offering so it’s great to be able to showcase a bigger, brighter supermarket with more choice to customers,” he said.
“Personally, I can’t wait to build a family atmosphere at the store and a culture focused on team health and wellbeing.
“We have received a lot of positive feedback from the community in the lead up to the opening, and we look forward to engaging with local organisations with our Commmunity BBQ which will run on weekends.”
Coles Alderley will officially open to local shoppers at 7am on Saturday, 18 February. To celebrate the opening of the new store, there will be activities throughout the day which will include live cooking demonstrations with former My Kitchen Rules contestants Chris and Cookie, supplier sampling,
