The new store at Drysdale opens on Wednesday, 24 May after an investment by Coles in new stores at Waurn Ponds, Lara and Torquay over the past four years. Since 2013, Coles has invested more than $150 million in four new stores and refurbishments of its stores at Corio and Belmont.
In addition to the 80 new recruits, the new supermarket at Drysdale will employ 70 team members who are transferring from other Coles stores in the area, bringing the total team to 150.
The new market-style supermarket will feature an in-store bakery with freshly-baked bread, a continental delicatessen with a large selection of cheese, fresh seafood and a meat counter with a slice on request service.
Drysdale shoppers will also be able to enjoy a self-service olive bar, ‘Scoop and Weigh’ station and an extensive fresh produce area with fruit and vegetables displayed on ice.
Store Manager Jared Bond said he was excited to introduce the store and its new features to local residents and support the local Drysdale community.
“Coles is heavily invested in the local community and we're committed to supporting a range of causes close to the hearts of customers and team members,” he said. "We will be providing food at the Drysdale
Primary School’s ‘Mini Mudder’ fundraising event later this month and team members will pitch in at the school next month when they build a new veggie patch at the school so kids can enjoy wholesome, healthy snacks. The team is eager to extend service beyond the checkout and excited to open our doors.”
Coles at Drysdale is located at 32 Murradoc Rd, and will open from 6am to 11pm seven days a week, with doors officially open to the public at 9am on Wednesday 24 May.
